PBi Standards of Practice
If you are only interested in the Placenta Encapsulation Specialist Training Course, you can go through the training course and disregard our Standards of Practice.
However, this could make you ineligible to become a member of PBi, or earn your PBi Certification (CPES).
Federal Regulations
PBi's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are on file with the US FDA, and meet or exceed food safety requirements for all US states. These SOPs also meet or exceed the standards of practice required by the governmental health organizations for Canada, Australia, and the UK. PBi is currently the only training organization that meets the requirements for all of these countries.
In the United States
In the US, there are many state laws that govern the preparation of food items for sale, beyond federal issues regulated by the FDA. PBi members and Certified Specialists in the United States are bound to abide by all the laws of their state that apply to their placenta encapsulation services business. If you feel your business operation is within legal guidelines that lie outside our SOPs, you would simply need to submit copies of that documentation for us make an exemption for your placenta services business, and you could then still earn PBi Certification.
Outside the United States
PBi members in other countries are required to abide by the health regulations and governance that would apply to them. We have worked with many of the oversight agencies in several countries, and will absolutely help you get set up to operate legally in your area. UK Specialists: Our SOPs are on file with the FSA, and we have been told that if you follow our training and protocols, you can prepare placentas for clients. We will continue to work with them as they develop their regulations.
Safety First!
PBi's primary responsibility is to mothers - our Specialists' future clients. PBi Specialists operate 100% within the laws of their state and country. Please consider becoming a member of PBi, and earning your PBi Certification.
In short, since 2006, we have worked with many governmental health organizations on the federal, state and county levels, in the US and abroad. The Standards of Practice put in place by PBi were developed to keep mothers safe, AND to keep our Specialists safe. We highly recommend you follow them, even though we can only require it of our PBi members and Certified Specialists in the US and the UK.
